In his spare time, Mr. Tieman started working on a Television and magnifiers, in order to find an appropriate solution for his customers. This resulted in the first CCTV ever.
The Optelec Sales & Marketing Team is dedicated to deliver high quality products to all parts of the globe. Learn more about this team of people.
The Optelec website was designed keeping the visually impaired in mind. We have done our best to make this website viewable for the blind that use screen readers and people with a visual impairment (low vision). This means closely following W3C, Bobby and other accessibility guidelines, testing the site carefully, and being open to feedback.
Optelec is constantly attending conferences and exhibitions globally to increase the awareness of low vision products. In the United States alone, 16.5 million persons over age 45 report having some vision loss (1995 Lighthouse National Survey on Vision Loss data). People are considered to have "low vision" when their eyesight cannot be corrected by ordinary glasses, contact lenses, medication or surgery.
We at Optelec want to make a difference in changing the lives of visually-impaired and dyslexic people. Also the company wants to play an increasing role in the aging populations coping with vision. We develop different optical and electronic tools for different needs and situations as well as distribute them so that they become readily available in many more places.
At Optelec US, you will find a commitment to excellence among our employees; an emphasis on respect and quality in how we treat our customers and each other; and a dedication to "improving the quality of life of visually impaired and dyslexic people reaching out with simple and effective solutions."
