Optelec Launches New Mountbatten Learning System at CTEVH 2006

August 7, 2006

Vista, CA - Today, Optelec US Inc., a member of the Optelec Group, and Quantum Technology, an Australian-based maker of life-changing technologies for children and adults who read and write Braille, jointly announced the launch of its newly designed Mountbatten Learning System. The Mountbatten Learning System (MBLS) continues a tradition of braille learning tools that are appropriate for the needs of children in the twenty first century.

The Mountbatten Learning system adds to the many features of the well known Mountbatten Pro, and includes some unique braille music capabilities, that enable students to create, play back, record and emboss musical compositions using braille notation. There are also some exciting new tools that will assist students to develop organizational skills, such as a diary, settings for time and day, alarm, appointment setting and a stopwatch. Of great interest to teachers will be a new Nemeth mode that will make braille math easier and more accessible.

The MBLS adds an exciting dimension to the Braille learning process for children who are blind as well as their sighted teachers and parents and will greatly assist with the development of technology skills within the Braille literacy experience.

Optelec will be debuting MBLS at the 2006 Annual California Transcribers and Educators of the Visually Impaired Conference, March 10-13, at the Marriott Hotel, Anaheim California. We invite you to stop by the Optelec booth in the CTEVH Exhibition Hall and "feel the music"!!!
