Takashi Yamashita Departs Optelec US Inc. as CEO

Yamashita will continue as a consultant for Optelec Holding Inc.

 

SAN DIEGO (April 15, 2009) - Optelec US Inc., world leader in innovative and life-changing assistive technologies for the blind and visually impaired, has announced a change in its management leadership. Due to health circumstances, Takashi Yamashita has stepped down as company Chief Executive and will assume a consultants role working on behalf of Optelec Holding Inc. In his new role, Mr. Yamashita will continue his advocacy efforts in the low vision community.
 
At the present time, no replacement for Yamashita is being sought. The CEO of Optelec Holding Inc., Michiel Van Schaik will fill the role as CEO for Optelec US on an interim basis. All other staff positions will remain in place and business will continue as usual. Optelec has full faith and confidence in its staff to manage all business practices and support the company's sales objectives.
