August 7, 2006

Chelmsford, MA - Optelec USA, Inc, a member of the Optelec Group, announced today its continued efforts to set the standard for providing the highest quality technology at the most affordable price point, by reducing the price of EasyLink, the industrys first Bluetooth Braille keyboard designed to give blind customers wireless control of numerous mainstream devices. EasyLink enables the customer to efficiently control and enter data into a MobileSpeak-equipped cell phone as well as a variety of off-the-shelf PDAs.

Over the last few months we have been able to respond to the markets excitement sparked by EasyLink by lowering our cost of goods, enabling us to get this access technology into the hands of more consumers, stated Michael Van Schaik, CEO of the Optelec Group.

Im ecstatic by the prospects of further penetrating the end user market, by the price reduction of EasyLink, stated Larry Lewis, Vice President of Blindness Products Sales, Optelec USA. This price reduction coupled with ongoing development efforts involving the EasyLink concept enable us to give end users access to multiple products, increasing the likelihood of accessing more applications leading to increased productivity in a variety of settings, at a price point significantly lower than bulkier alternatives.

Current MobileSpeak users can purchase Easylink from Optelec or one of its authorized resellers. Customers who wish to purchase an EasyLink plus MobileSpeak package can do. For those users who require access to a stand-alone PDA, they may purchase EasyLink plus the EasyLink software.
